Size guide

Every cap is sized by head circumference. Measure once and you'll know your size for good.

How to measure

Wrap a tape measure around your head — about one finger's width above your ears, across the middle of your forehead and around the widest part of the back of your head.
Keep it snug, not tight. The tape should sit flat against your hair, without pressing in.
Read the number in centimetres and find it in the table below. If you land between two sizes, see the note underneath.

No tape measure? Use a piece of string, mark where it meets, and hold it against a ruler.

European sizes are simply your head measurement in centimetres — a 57 cm head takes an EU 57.

Between two sizes?

Wool and tweed have very little give — take the larger size.
Cotton and denim relax slightly with wear — the smaller size is usually right.
Caps with an elasticated back cover roughly two sizes, so either will sit well.
Your head is marginally larger at the end of the day. If you measured in the morning and you're right on the line, size up.

How a flat cap should sit: level on your head, the band resting just above your ears, the peak pointing slightly down. It should stay put when you turn your head, without leaving a mark on your forehead.
